My foray into natural skincare

March 27, 2018by gemmaruthbrown 3 Comments

My first crush on natural skincare came when adult acne hit me after a fairly unscathed stretch as a teenager (oh the irony!) I found the only thing that really […]

Be still

October 3, 2017by gemmaruthbrown Leave a comment

“Maybe this is your time to learn to be still.” My throat tightened: “I’m not sure I know what that means.” “Well, that’s where you start.” I had just told […]

About the time I got glasses.

February 2, 2017by gemmaruthbrown Leave a comment

I got glasses last week, and then I cried. Don’t worry: there were no tears on the brightly-lit shop floor populated by sparkly frames and chatty salespeople. Can we just […]

COMING OFF THE PILL: HEALING YOUR BODY

August 15, 2014by gemmaruthbrown 2 Comments

It can take up to a year to find natural hormonal balance after having taken synthetic hormones. Because of my experience on the pill, I was keen to speed up the process […]

When your aunt knows how to brighten your day 😍
One day like this a year would see me right (but please let’s have some more...)
Unspeakably proud of this mama and how she climbs very tall mountains with strength and grace. How adorable is this wee outcome of that? I’m quite possibly the most love-struck auntie in the world 💕
When your ma insists on buying your clothes from her favourite shop and finds a wee bargain for herself, too...
Bonfire Hot Chocolate courtesy of @minimaegden. You haven’t lived if you haven’t tried it.
A bowl full of goodness on a rainy day. Looking for your favourite roasting combinations - we are low-key OBSESSED at the minute! This is my current fave...sweet potato, pepper, courgette, kale, sprouts on whatever leaves are lying around (a great way to cut #foodwaste!) Hit me up, insta-fam!
This weather reminds me more of Christmas than Easter...but spring is just around the corner, isn’t it?! We have enjoyed a cosy day indoors and there’s no sign of the fire going out anytime soon. Hope you are having a restful (and warm!) Easter Monday, too!
Daddy’s home for four days, we’ve got a Chinese feast and traditional egg rolling planned, lots of family to see and laughs to have... Baby B is *almost* giggling! That’s right: I turned around this week and realised we have a REAL BABY as opposed to a tiny little newborn now! I didn’t realise it was possible to be so excited about someone’s development (“HE CAN STRAIGHTEN HIS PINKY!”) and yet want to bottle up each stage! Anyway, relishing each moment of our first Easter together. Have a great one, friends 🌱
This morning has been so much fun! Thanks for all your messages re #naturalbeauty. To catch you up: I’ve been investigating and building a collection of natural face/hair/body products, having become increasingly convinced that it’s what’s best for me, my baby (who ends up smelling like whatever I’m using anyway!) and the planet. More than a hobby for whale-loving, hemp-wearing hippies (but if that’s you, hi 💁) using natural products is a way to tread more lightly on the Earth...and be kind to ourselves: since swapping some of my basics, I’ve felt and looked a lot better! Find out what I’ve been loving from @evolvebeautyuk @mrsrganics & @hnaturals in the ‘Natural Beauty’ highlights on my profile, and head to my blog gemmaruthbrown.com to find out what I’m trying out next (including why I’m going to wash my hair with powdered dried fruit!) If you use natural products I’d love to hear what your favourites are...
