About the time I got glasses.

February 2, 2017by gemmaruthbrown Leave a comment

I got glasses last week, and then I cried. Don’t worry: there were no tears on the brightly-lit shop floor populated by sparkly frames and chatty salespeople. Can we just […]

ICYMI 🌸 #Ad: There has been lots of great conversation on these squares about sustainable living recently - I love it! Let me introduce you to the idea of #compleating...i.e. eating the whole food and not letting any parts go to waste. This morning I decided to use up some lost bits I had lying around: I found the ends of a loaf of bread (some of the most thrown-away food in the UK!), some eggs and milk that were getting close to their use-by date and some leftover blueberries who were screaming out to be eaten! The result was some delicious French toast and an empty waste bin. Voila! What could you do with the food you might usually throw away? I’d love to hear your creative ideas! @lfhw_uk
Oh, the places you’ll go... (Just promise you’ll come home to your mama every once in a while.)
Well, our boiler is still broken so we are spending as much time out as possible! Today Baby B has run around two play parks, one coffee shop, one beach, one grocery shop and one fancy hotel lobby. (If that doesn’t make him sleep, I don’t know what will!) I love the stage he’s at: everything must be closely inspected, touched, turned upside down, twisted, sometimes eaten - that last one is super fun on the beach 😂 It’s given me a new appreciation for the world around us. Like, how fascinating are sea shells, really?!
Good morning! It really feels like spring is just around the corner today - the air is fresh but a little warmer, buds are starting to say hello & the days are finally getting longer! Yipee! In honour of all that, this @brownpaperpackagesni print is on sale for half price (meaning it’s JUST £6!!!) It’s the PERFECT reminder that winter doesn’t last forever - for you, or maybe for a friend who’s having a hard time. No need for a code, it’s already reduced in the shop...so quick, click on the link in my bio to buy! Enjoy 💐 🌸🌼🌺💐 “In the midst of winter I found there was within me an invincible summer.”
You know it’s been a good weekend when your mum can’t get the sand off your shoes. (We went for a full ‘first proper shoe experience’ at Clark’s the other day and it felt strangely significant. 😭😱😍)
Good hair, bad hair, second-day hair, bed-head hair...is Donegal-hair a thing?
#HornHead, Co. Donegal. Breath-taking.
A few days around Dunfanaghy to celebrate a big birthday? Yes please. Recommendations of things to do/see/drink/eat in the local area welcome! #RalphsBigBirthdayBash
Sitting eating a solo pizza having tucked one of my valentines into bed and awaiting the other to come home after a late shift. These two have my heart ❤️ “Listen to the voice that calls you ‘Beloved’.” #HenriNouwen
