The Continental Market is back in Belfast for its annual Spring appearance and I love it. I’m a big fan of the Christmas market also (mainly because it involves Christmas), but there is something LOVELY about being able to stroll around on a warm evening as the sun sets over stalls from which the most delicious sights, sounds, smells and flavours are coming.
I love all the gorgeous sights – so many different things to look at as you wander.
It’s also lovely to see Belfast embracing multiculturalism and remove itself from the news stories of racist attacks and xenophobic attitudes. We have a long way to go, but gathering together and celebrating lots of different cultures is a great step in the right direction.
And of course, the smells and flavours are amazing. I met my friend Ben from the North Coast at the market on Friday night. Ben makes AMAZING cakes but has also got into popcorn, and we got a bag of his sweet and savoury kettle mix. Oh my days. It is now definitely half as full as it is in this picture. If you go (the market will be in Belfast until Monday evening), make sure you try some!
